If you're scratching your head because you don't know what it is, you are not alone. A widget is simply one of those words that people apply to things, that they do not know the name. But, in the land of the computer, a widget is a bit of HTML code that you can place on your Web site to liven up.

Widgets are generally easy to use and put on your page. It is a kind of cut and paste thing that you can easily embed on your Web site.

A fun aspect of widgets is that there are entire sites dedicated to the list of free widgets that you can cut and paste and put on your site. If you have a website, why fill it with only boring text? Place on a couple of visually exciting widgets which could also be useful to your visitors?
