Blog marketing is a great way to get free search engine traffic. You can also change the functions and a blog looks way quite easily.
You can change the way in which a blog functions with the use of plugins. What are plug-ins? They are just addons for your blog give to your blog from the additional functions that can help increase traffic and revenues.
To get an idea of the type of plug-ins, you can get for your blog, go to the "plugins" section in the area of administration of your WordPress blog, click on "add new", "popular".

AddThis Social Bookmarking Widget: This plugin installs the AddThis.com social bookmarking widget on your blog to allow visitors to easily of the content on your blog bookmark and share across all social media networks, including Twitter and Facebook.
Advertising Manager: This plugin allows to easily view and manage advertising and links on your blog of affiliation. It can save lot of time.
Akismet: This plugin filters spam on you blog like comments did add no value at all you can mark as spam (as you do with email).
All in One SEO Pack: This helps make your blog and more user-friendly search engine content. If you get more free search engine traffic.
Form 7 contact: Self explanatory really, but a plugin simple and easy to use and not too complicated.
XML Google Sitemaps: This helps search engines to find and index your blog in the right way.
WordPress.com stats: It is a great plugin to see how many visits you get your blog every day.
To have access to these plugins, go to your blog admin area, click on the "plugins" on the left side, "add new", look for the plugin (using the exact name as above), install and then enable the plugin.
To change the options for each plugin, search for the name of the plugin in the area of the admin and you will see the options.
You can also install a RSS feed so your visitors can subscribe to this and get the latest updates of your blog. To do this, use feedburner.com. Paste the RSS feed URL into the RSS widget under appearance/widgets in your WordPress administration area.
If you want more detailed statistics, use Google Analytics. Search new "google Analytics" under the section "plug-ins/add" in the area of administration of WordPress. Follow the instructions of the plugin to install analytics code.
Summing up
Only 7 of my more recommended plugins, there are tons more that may be useful for you (depending on what you want for your blog).
It allows to experiment with plugins to find those simple are not too complicated. Plugins that really save you time and help increase your blog revenue and public.
