Your first using Self hosted WordPress blog

Now, I am (as I mentioned before) not dev! So what I did with my blog is pretty simple, but in my opinion seems yet. First of all, I have chosen a theme. WordPress are available free of charge for you to choose among many themes and there are some you can pay. Now if you are on a budget I suggested a free theme and these look and some of those that you pay to choose.

You then add plug-ins. Plugins are types of Add ons that give you other services, such as the Bookmarking, comments, etc. - I do not understand much about these, but I use not popular as stat press (for statistics on visitors), social bookmarking, disk throwing comments and akismet checks spam comments.

The next thing you want to do is to add things called widgets. Widgets are similar to small areas of the blog that you can add things too like an optin box - and these widgets just appear on each page your visitors will look on your blog. These widgets can also be hotbeds of banners as I have for Facebook and MySpace. Generally use the HTML editor for these just copy and paste the code in the widget, and hey presto will appear exactly they way I like. Thus, on any page, the visitor is that they will see these parts of the blog. This is called the text widget. Other widgets, you can include are Calenders, links, and recent posts etc.

Different themes have different areas of the blog that you can place your widgets, so depending on what you choose, will determine the final aspect of the site. Just then you start to include content. The great thing about it is that you can include almost any - articles, stories, photos, videos, etc. And the really cool thing about it, you can dictate when you want that your blog to publish your content. Every time that you start a new post just to the right of it is an option, when you want this post to be published. In actual fact you could literally write 5 posts in a single day, but were published over the next five days instead of all both today. That is how cool! Talk about able to manage your time!

It's just a very brief overview of how to get your blog up and running. Hope that this has been useful to some of you who are considering from your own blog is going to be difficult and frightening - when he did not need to be! See my blog here at http://www.MLMStrategyWithLiz.com
